Banner Center Facts

  • Florida is home to a vast array of businesses in Creative Industries. According to the 2011 Creative Industries report released by Americans for the ARTs, as of January 2011, Florida hosted 52,869 arts-related businesses that employed 184,708 people. Accordingly, the creative industries accounted for 3.94 percent of the 1,341,066 total businesses located in Florida and 2.16 percent of the 8,532,135 total people they employed.
     
  • In the same report, the statewide data reveals that Florida's nonprofit arts and culture industry generated in excess of $3.1 billion in economic activity in 2008, including:

  •      -  88,236 full time equivalent jobs
         -  $2.057 billion in resident household income
         -  $196 million in local government revenue

         -  $249 million in state government revenue

     

  • The Employ Florida Banner Center for Creative Industries was launched in 2011 to serve the statewide, industry –driven resource for the Creative Industries workforce education and training to ensure the competitiveness of Florida’s Creative business.
     
  • More than 1000 Floridians have participated in the Banner Center for Creative Industries training courses and some have earned college credits or certificates of completion or certifications including a Certification in Television and Film Production.
     
  • To date the Banner Center for Creative Industries has partnered with 10 public and private educational institutions to collaborate and offer cutting edge industry training throughout the state and beyond.
     
  • The Banner Center for Creative Industries has also partnered with multiple Florida businesses to develop customized training curricula including Social Media for Business, Television and Film Production, Screenwriting, Digital Advertising to name a few. Additional programming is being developed continuously to addressed needs and gaps in the market as well as offer ongoing education to train, and re-train potential employees and incumbent workers.
     
  • The Banner Center for Creative Industries is the only state designated Banner Center located throughout the state focused on developing training for our targeted industry based on statewide partnerships and industry feedback.
