Now in the second year of operation, the Banner Center for Creative Industries has been positioned as a key resource in the unified solution to provide a trained workforce for the sustainment and expansion of the Florida Creative Industries. It focuses on advancing Florida’s creative production workforce skills to an increased level of productivity and contributing to the expansion of the diversity of the state’s creative industries. Now in year two, we have successfully developed and implemented curricula and training for hundreds of workers and serve as the pinnacle for highly credentialed short-term training delivery.
Working with a consortium of community colleges, regional associations, and workforce boards, the Banner Center for Creative Industries is poised for another successful year of achievements. These comprise a wide spectrum of activities spanning creative industry-driven academic and training curriculum development and delivery efforts, to that of taking the beginning steps for establishing a unified workforce preparation system that creates the training and educational programs, curriculum, educational articulation pathways, and certifications needed to deliver required innovative workplace competencies.
The Banner Center for Creative Industries has created this system through partnerships that link secondary academies, technical school programs, university and community college degree programs, and entry-level/incumbent worker training with a certification for television and film production workers. This certification assesses a student/worker’s foundational skill and knowledge in areas common to all TV and film production: This certification is industry defined and is portable across all creative industry sectors.
All of the academic members of the consortium are full-time, lifelong creative industry practitioners with highly successful individual careers, accomplishments and exceptional skills. The Banner Center for Creative Industries is taking the statewide lead in creating, coordinating, and providing knowledge and skills upgrade training based on needs identified by Florida creative industries.
