CCEC Networking Reception Opportunity for Graduating Seniors

Wednesday, March 26, 2014

As I am sure you are all aware, the ability to network in professional situations is a critical component of securing employment and career advancement after employment.  The CCEC Dean’s Office is planning its semi-annual networking/mentoring event to help graduating seniors network with potential employers.

Last semester’s event was very successful, and regardless if you already have a job lined-up or not, this event will help provide you skills and connections that will help you as you advance through your career.  This semester’s event will be held on Wednesday, March 26th at 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the University Center, Room 1090.   The event will involve 15 industry professional from across the Computing, Engineering and Construction Disciplines.  There will be food and drinks at the event.  The event is free of charge but only 30-seniors will be able to participate this semester.  These 30-slots will be on a first-come, first-serve basis.  The only requirement is that the student must be slated to graduate either in May 2014, August 2014, or December 2014.

Students may apply by sending an email to the Dean at m.tumeo@unf.edu.  If you wish to participate, you must notify the Dean by Friday, March 21st.  Professional dress (much like the CCEC Employer Showcase) will be required.

The purpose is for industry professionals to help teach senior students the finer points of professional networking such as:

  • How to introduce yourself at professional meetings.
  • How to navigate and network or work the room.
  • How to overcome awkward moments.
  • How to demonstrate confidence and comfort in professional networking.
  • How to shake hands, eat, and talk professionally at the same time.
