MECHANICAL Engineering Faculty Position
The School of Engineering at the University of North Florida (UNF) invites applications for a tenure-track position in mechanical engineering. The position will be filled at the Assistant Professor level and commence in August 2008. An earned doctorate in mechanical engineering, or closely related engineering field, at the time of appointment is required. Candidates currently registered as professional engineers or eligible to become registered within 4 years of appointment are preferred. Candidates with experience in industry are also encouraged to apply. Excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels will be expected of the successful candidate, as well as the establishment and maintenance of a productive program of scholarly activity and professional and institutional service.
The UNF School of Engineering offers BS and MS degrees in civil, electrical, and mechanical engineering. There are over 500 intended and declared undergraduate engineering majors and indications are that this number will grow substantially in the next few years. The MS programs are new as of January 2008 and rapid expansion is anticipated. There are 17 faculty members in the School with 6 of those positions serving the Mechanical Engineering program. The School is housed in the new Science and Engineering Building which offers excellent facilities for teaching and research.
