Minutes of the Computer Elements Technical Committee Meeting

Vail, Colorado

June 21, 1998

A meeting of the Computer Elements Technical committee was held at 4:00 PM on June 21, 1998 at Vail Colorado. The following items were addressed:

  1. A nomination committee for the new Computer Elements Committee technical chair has been formed. Members are Bhadrik Dalal, Merlin Smith, and Doug Westcott. Elections will be held in January 1999 for the term July 1, 1999 through June 30, 2001. Nominations are encouraged by all members.

  2. The web page for Vail got a lot of notice this year. Jole Boney requested that the agenda page be managed by the program chair. In the future it will be managed that way.

  3. There were a lot of last minute speaker changes for Vail this year. It was proposed and adopted that future computer elements workshops registrations for speakers be sent out and collected by the session chairs. The session chairs will be responsible for seeing that their respective speakers sign up by physically sending and receiving the registration forms.

  4. The technical committee has a budget of $1,600 for 1998 from the Computer Society. The 1998 budget will be used for the following: a) Technical Committee Chair to attend Computer Society Technical Activities Board Meetings (twice a year). b) Awards for significant contributions to organize the workshops (1998-Mesa and Vail).

  5. Web pages for the Computer Elements Technical Committee can now be found at: www.computer.org then click on Technical Activities and click on Computer Elements under the home page section. These pages are maintained for each workshop by Doug Westcott.
