Minutes
of the Computer Elements Technical Committee Meeting
Mesa,
Arizona
January 18, 1998
A meeting of the Computer
Elements Technical committee was held at 4:00 PM on
January 18, 1998 at Mesa, Arizona. The following items
were addressed:
-
Elections for all
technical committees will be run by the Computer
Society. The term will be two years, for Computer
Elements the next term will be January 2000
through December 2002. The committee is
responsible for the nomination committee, which
should submit its report of nominees and
recommendations in July of 1999. A nomination
committee is being formed. Merlin Smith
volunteered to be on the committee.
-
A late registration
fee was discussed and voted down. It was felt
that since many of the late registration people
are speakers, a late fee would not be in the best
interest of the workshop.
-
The technical
committee has a budget of $1,600 for 1998 from
the Computer Society. The 1998 budget will be
used for the following: a) Technical Committee
Chair to attend Computer Society Technical
Activities Board Meetings (twice a year). -
$1200. b) Awards for significant contributions to
organize the workshops - $400.
-
Web pages for the
