The BS CIS-Information Technology program at UNF is modeled according to the recommendations of the ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) and the IEEE-CS (Computer Society of the Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers).
The UNF BS CIS-Information Technology program prepares graduates to achieve the following career and professional accomplishments:
The program emphasizes course work in computational structures, systems software, data structures, artificial intelligence, algorithms, data modeling, modeling and simulation, computer graphics, compilers, operating systems, interfacing, computer architecture, robotics, and other applications and theory.
Students completing the UNF BS CIS-Information Technology program will achieve the following outcomes related to skills in the discipline, critical thinking, and communications. By the time of graduation, the program enables students to:
Graduates will be prepared for careers in systems development and programming involving compiler, operating systems and database design, modeling and simulation, artificial intelligence and robotics, computer graphics, computer architecture and interfacing, computer communications and scientific applications.
The program requires a strong background in mathematics and science, including calculus and calculus-based physics. It is recommended for those interested in the more technically and scientifically oriented areas of computing.
