Bachelor of Science in Computer and Information Sciences The School of Computing offers the Bachelor of Science degree with major program tracks in each of Computer Science Information Science Information Systems Information Technology These programs each provide the opportunity for extensive study and laboratory work in aspects of computing theory and practice, leading to professional opportunities in industry or providing the basis for further academic endeavors. Both the computer science program and the information systems program are nationally accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission (CAC) of ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology). Computer Science program accreditation has been in effect since 1987, and Information Systems since 2003. The curriculum of the computer science program is modeled according to recommendations of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the IEEE Computer Society (IEEE-CS). The curriculum of the Information Science and Information Systems programs follows the Model Curriculum and Guidelines for Undergraduate Degree Programs in Information Systems endorsed by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), the Association for Information Systems (AIS), and the Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP). The curriculum of the Information Technology program is modeled according to recommendations of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the IEEE Computer Society (IEEE-CS).
