The information systems program is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET, 111 Market Place, Suite 1050, Baltimore, MD 212 02-4012 - telephone 410-347-7700 . Program accreditation has been in effect since 2003. The curriculum of the Information Systems program follows the Model Curriculum and Guidelines for Undergraduate Degree Programs in Information Systems endorsed by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), the Association for Information Systems (AIS), and the Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP). It has an interdisciplinary flavor in that a core selection of Business Administration coursework is an integral part of the program. The computing course work students take for this program is reflective of current computing practices, whether legacy or state-of-art, as employed to implement solutions to business problems. This includes coursework in applications programming, data and file structures, object-oriented design, system design, database design, systems implementation, systems maintenance, networks, and computer communications. Graduates are prepared to embark on careers ranging from software development specialists to information systems managers.

Prerequisites - 27 Semester Hours Students are encouraged to complete program prerequisites during their freshman and sophomore years. Similar course work at another institution will be considered on a case by case basis at the initial meeting with a School of Computing academic advisor. All prerequisite courses must be completed with grades of C or better. COP 2120 has been one of the UNF prerequisites and we will continue to accept this course for transfer credit through Fall 2007. Beginning Spring 2008, we are replacing COBOL with a Visual & Procedural Programming course. Acceptable equivalents from Florida community colleges include COP 2333: Advanced VB Programming or COP 2838: Advanced Visual Basic.NET Programming.
