The Advisory Council for Computer and Information Sciences (ACCIS) is composed of forward thinking Computer and Information Technology leaders from the Northeast Florida area. The Council membership works with the University leadership towards advancing the greater interests of this region in the development of outstanding educational programs and activity in the Computer and Information Sciences that underscore and support Jacksonville's claim of first tier city status. Council members understand the vital role of higher education in establishing a vibrant and desirable place to live and work, and dedicate themselves to providing both support and a vital communication link between Computer and Information Sciences at the University of North Florida and the community it serves.

Matters of mutual interest and concern for which the Council provides information, advice and assistance include:
  • Advice on community needs for Computer and Information Sciences education;
  • Advice on community needs for education in other disciplines;
  • Assistance as desired and appropriate in fund raising for scholarships, equipment, program development and improvement, new program start-up costs, faculty development activities, and operating funds for the Council;
  • Reviewing School of Computing program/course offerings, making suggestions commensurate with needed changes, and reporting on the community view regarding program effectiveness;
  • Informing the UNF leadership of industry trends, new technology, and expectations of graduates, providing linkage for interns and general placement support for graduates.
