Heather Kenney, Ed. D - Director of Brooks College of Health Advising

Dr. Heather Kenney earned her BA in Psychology from West Chester University of Pennsylvania, M.S. in Higher Education from Florida State University, and Ed.D in Education Leadership from UNF. Her research and programming interests revolve around college student retention and engagement pertaining to student success.

Dr. Kenney is the Director of Brooks College of Health Advising at UNF. Her role as director is to advocate for student success by encouraging strong academic and personal skills. Prior to working at UNF, Dr. Kenney was the Associate Director for Student Activities at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. She also has experience in Residence life/Housing and teaching First Year Experience. She also is an adjunct faculty teaching Healthcare Careers. 

Dr. Kenney enjoys collaborating with different departments on campus to provide students with a holistic college experience. She worked with Housing and Residence Life to establish the first college based Living Learning Community (LLC) at UNF. The LLC allows health students to live together on campus and take a course together focus on healthcare professions. During the design of the community, she has had the opportunity to build community based learning into HSC2930: Heathcare Careers special topic course. CBL provides students the opportunity to engage in the healthcare community, connect with faculty, and explore career options.

 As a Community Scholar, Dr. Kenney redesigned the LLC course and build additional connections for the Spring LLC Capstone course that combines professional development with community based learning.
