| Prerequisite: Successful completion of previous courses in the DPT curriculum
Clinical Internship I is a full-time six week clinical internship experience. Students may be placed in inpatient hospital or rehabilitation settings, outpatient clinics, and/or skilled nursing facilities. Patients with orthopedic, musculoskeletal, neurological, and/or cardiopulmonary diagnosis may be encountered. Under direct supervision, and with the clinical instructor's assistance, the student will integrate all prior academic work. Students will apply basic physical therapy examination techniques and initiate treatment activities with non-complicated patients. Students will practice in accordance with the American Physical Therapy Association Code of Ethics and Guide to Physical Therapist Practice; the practice act of the state in which they are assigned; and according to the policies and procedures of the individual facility where they are assigned.(A laboratory fee of $30 assessed.) |
