Summary of what to expect with your internship:

Most people think of Members of Congress as lawmakers, first and foremost. But equally important is the help that Congressional offices give to constituents who have problems with federal departments and agencies. And this internship will be in two parts outlined below.

  1. Office –constituent casework support

Interns will assist the caseworkers with Casework – or Constituent Service, as it is often called –this is one of the most valuable functions of a Congressional office. It fills an important humanitarian need and gives the Member of Congress a direct line to the needs and concerns of his or her constituents.

  1. Special Research Projects- for Field Representatives

Interns will assist district office field representative in various research projects. Some of these projects are based on District information like demographics on special pockets for special events or researching constituent Awards and recommendations within the district. Each Intern will be assigned to 1 special project they will be responsible for collecting data and putting into a document on a shared drive

The last part of your internship will involve basic operations like filing, data entry, and cleaning office daily.
