TEST OF ESSENTIAL ACADEMIC SKILLS (TEAS)
Registration for Testing at UNF

Thank you for your interest in the University of North Florida’s School of Nursing Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program.  We require the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) for Prelicensure and Accelerated Prelicensure admission consideration; there are no exceptions or substitutions for this requirement.

To complete this entrance exam at the University of North Florida, please complete all of the following steps:

  1. Establish an online account with Assessment Technologies Institute (ATI) at www.atitesting.com
Please be sure to remember your login name and password for this, as you will be required to enter this information
    the day of the exam to test;
  2. Complete the electronic form found linked below (websurveyor) to register for a testing appointment
with UNF.  (we recommend registering as far in advance of the date you prefer as possible). You will receive an email confirmation from the Nursing Admissions Coordinator confirming your registration.  Your confirmation will be sent within 48 hours unless registration is submitted during non-office hours.  Only after you have received this confirmation are you registered for the exam and should you proceed to the next step.

You must retain your confirmation email for admission to the exam.  Summer 2009 applicants must test by 1/15/0. Registrants should be sure to check their email’s Inbox and “Junk” or “Spam” for the email confirmation, especially Yahoo and Hotmail users.

  3. Make payment for the $25 test proctor fee (payable to the University of North Florida) to the UNF Cashier’s Office, which is located on the first floor of Bldg 1 (J.J. Daniel Hall) before the day of the exam.

Acceptable forms of payment include cash, personal checks, Traveler’s checks, and money orders—the Cashier’s Office cannot accept phone payments or credit cardsYou must obtain and retain your receipt for admission to the exam, so be sure to pay well in advance.

We recommend stapling the receipt to your confirmation email for safekeeping and having the Cashier’s Office clearly indicate your name on the receipt as proof that it was your fee payment.

Note that the Cashier’s Office is open 8:30am to 6pm Monday through Thursday and 8:30am to 4pm on Friday and can be reached at 904.620.2472.  If you mail in your payment you may phone them to arrange for a fax copy of your receipt to be sent to you.  DO NOT SUBMIT PAYMENT TO THEM WITHOUT THE FORM (.PDF) BELOW, AS THEY WILL NOT KNOW FOR WHAT THE MONEY IS!

  4. Exam day—arrive promptly for your testing appointment, making sure to allocate time for traffic, parking, and locating your testing room.  Note that Saturday parking does not require a parking permit; Tuesday parking will require a $3 daily pass for testers who do not already have a UNF vehicle parking pass.  This pass is available from Parking Services near either campus entrance (on the right).

In order to be admitted to the exam test takers must bring the following items:  photo ID; Cashier’s Office receipt for test proctor fee; UNF registration confirmation email.
Failure to bring all items will prevent one from testing.

Test takers must also bring with them a credit or credit-sponsored debit card, as the $20 entrance exam fee is due immediately prior to testing.  It is important to note that credit is the only form of payment accepted, as payment is submitted electronically and directly to ATI.  Come prepared with the billing address for your credit card exactly as it appears on your credit/bank statements.

Test takers seeking disability accommodations should contact the School of Nursing at 904.620.2684 for assistance immediately.  Documentation regarding the disability to support the claim for accommodations should be supplied as far in advance as possible.  In certain cases, claims will need to be verified and/or paper-based testing materials will need to be ordered and shipped.  Please note that if you wish to request special admission consideration based on a disability, it is the intent of the University to consider this information within the following guidelines:  (1) documentation regarding the disability is to be provided on a voluntary basis, (2) all information will be kept confidential, (3) refusal to provide information will not subject the applicant to adverse treatment, and (4) information will only be used in connection with the university’s voluntary efforts to overcome the effects of conditions that may have resulted in limited participation of persons with disabilities.

The following items are prohibited during the exam and should not be brought into the testing room.  Prohibited items will be held by the proctor(s) until the conclusion of the exam:
    1. Book bags, knapsacks, and large purses
    2. Food and drink
    3. Calculators
    4. Pens (pencils are permitted and will also be available the day of the exam)

    7. Cell phones, laptops, PDAs, iPods/MP3 players, CD players, Walkmans, and other electronic devices
