Contact Information
The School of Nursing will now contact undergraduate applicants (Prelicensure, Accelerated Prelicensure, RN-BSN) electronically regarding the status of their applications. This will occur only after the School of Nursing Admissions Office has received and reviewed the application and will be done one time per application. Existing applicants who are not current UNF students will be notified by US Postal Service only if a working email is not on file; existing UNF students with an active UNF email account will receive notice there.
Those making application to the program from this point forward must provide a working email when applying. Be sure to add “unf.edu” as a safe domain to email filters so that emails from our program are not delivered to “Junk” mailboxes. The notification email is considered official notification to you of your status and the School of Nursing will expect that you received the notification unless we otherwise receive notice that the message did not send properly. Access to the status of one’s application is available through the myWings portal at www.unf.edu. Questions regarding this process should be directed to Beth Dibble, Nursing Admissions Coordinator, by email at bdibble@unf.edu. |
Programs Offered
The School of Nursing at the Brooks College of Health offers three (3) tracks for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). The curriculum is community-based in that it supports engagement with the community throughout the nursing major, nurturing and building relationships with community agencies consistently over time through an innovative home-basing of students in a designated community for the entire length of their nursing program.

please click on the track name:
Prelicensure BSN
This track is for first-time nursing students (college juniors and above) who want to prepare for a career in nursing while earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Upon graduation from the program, students will sit for the NCLEX licensing exam for RNs. This track is also available for those who have already earned a baccalaureate degree in another field of study.
Accelerated Prelicensure BSN
This track is for those already holding a baccalaureate degree in another field of study who want to prepare for a career in nursing while earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. This track is not designed for those who will not posess a baccalaureate degree before entering. Admission to this track is non-competitive and is handled on a firstcome, first served basis.
Students should be aware that because admission to the nursing program is very competitive (Prelicensure and Accelerated Prelicensure tracks), completion of minimum requirements does not guarantee admission. In particular, there are many more qualified applicants to the Prelicensure and Accelerated Prelicensure tracks than there are spaces in each class (approximately 1200 annual applications for 120 total seats). For this reason, applicants may be asked to complete a standardized test, participate in an interview, and/or submit documentation beyond minimum requirements in order to assist in the selection process. Applicants to both competitive BSN tracks should keep in touch with the School of Nursing Admissions Office to ensure that they have current information about requirements.
RN-BSN Bridge
This track is for those who are already Registered Nurses (RNs) from community college or diploma programs and who desire to further their nursing education and expand their career opportunities by completing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
Entrance Exam Requirement (RN-BSN excluded)

Prelicensure
(summer and fall, Prelicensure) and Accelerated Prelicensure (summer, Accelerated Prelicensure) tracks of the BSN program at the University of North Florida. The required exam is the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) from ATI.

*The RN-BSN program follows the application deadlines that are established by the university; the Prelicensure and Accelerated Prelicensure programs follow deadlines established by the School of Nursing. It’s important for RN-BSN applicants to monitor the university’s term application deadlines at www.unf.edu under the “Prospective Students” section, as dates are subject to change without notice.
**The RN-BSN program does not officially send letters of acceptance; rather, applicants are notified by e-mail as to their application status once reviewed. After accessing the results of this review in the myWings portal, candidates are responsible for scheduling an appointment with the Brooks College of Health Advising Office to finalize admission to the program.
***The dates listed for the start of classes each term is the university’s official start date. Check your personal class schedule for your actual first day of class by accessing it through the myWings portal.
Prelicensure/Accelerated Interviews
Please note that an interview is conducted prior to admission into the Prelicensure/Accelerated tracks. The interview is competitive and is conducted in a group setting. There will be no change in interview dates except for extreme emergency.
Prelicensure/Accelerated Orientation
Please note that there is a mandatory 2-day orientation (Taking Flight) for all students admitted to the Prelicensure/Accelerated tracks. Failure to attend will result in the forfeiture of one’s seat.
