Dr. Li Loriz, director of UNF'S School of Nursing, was selected as Director of the Year by the Florida Nursing Students Association for her unceasing commitment to the support of UNF nursing students and faculty.

Loriz was chosen from more than 50 nursing program directors and deans in the state. She received the award in October at the Florida Nursing Association's annual state convention.

"She creates an environment where students and faculty feel free to express their concerns as well as share their triumphs," said Dr. Kathaleen Bloom, UNF nursing professor. "Her open-door policy and shared governance style sets an example for students and faculty alike."

Loriz has demonstrated dedication and support to the Student Nurses' Association (SNA) consistently over the years by attending chapter meetings and local association functions. She also gave her support in increasing UNF's SNA chapter from a handful of students to more than 120.

Four UNF RN/BSN students orchestrated a health fair at St. Francis House, St. Augustine.
This is the only homeless shelter in St. Johns County.  It was well attended by homeless and by First Coast News (Angela Coleman), Times Union, and St. Augustine Record.  It should be in tomorrow's paper, too.  Turn on First Coast News (Channels 5/12) at 6:00 or 6:40 to hear the reporter interviewing Roz, Linda, Michelle, and Angela.  All four are RNs at Flagler Hospital.  This was a neat experience for them because they were St. Augustine nurses working in their local shelter.
