Project Atrium: Tristin Lowe
Project Atrium: Tristin Lowe

The Museum of Contemporary Art Jacksonville, a cultural resource of the University of North Florida, enters into the second year of its innovative Project Atrium series with a site-adapted work of stellar proportions. Project Atrium: Tristin Lowe breathes life into this highly respected artist’s grand-scale installations of the moon and comets constructed from felt, fabric, neon and other out-of-this-world materials.

Using low-tech methods and material, sculptor Lowe created his 2010 work, "Lunacy," a sizable version of the moon that fills the Museum’s Haskell Atrium Gallery by covering an inflatable sphere in white felt.  This exhibit is on display now through Oct. 28.

Reflections: Vietnam War 45 Years Later
Reflections: Vietnam War 45 Years Later

The Lufrano Intercultural Gallery in the Student Union East Building is hosting a new exhibit beginning Aug. 20 and running through Dec. 7. This series is an eclectic fusion of styles combining representational, surrealism and experimental modernism. The use of symbolism is interwoven among the war series paintings depicting pain, suffering and death associated with all war, especially the Vietnam War. It is based upon the artist, Jerry Domask’s, personal observations and shared conversations with fellow comrades-in-arms and former POW, Ted Gostas.

For more information, please contact the Intercultural Center for PEACE staff at (904) 620-2475.
