 | Student Survey - Please Help! A group of Coggin College of Business students are currently working on a statistics project to determine how long it takes a graduate to get a job. Please take a minute to assist them by taking this quick 10 question survey before Monday, November 1st. They need 50 replies to complete the report. However 100 replies qualify them to receive a 50% bonus to their final project grade! You do not have to be a Coggin College graduate to participate.

For November, the UNF Emeriti Book Club will be reading “Thunder on the River” by UNF’s very own Dan Schafer. “Thunder on the River” is an enchanting history of the Civil War in northeast Florida and in it, Schafer offers the history of our city and region, which was precariously situated as a major center of commerce on the brink of frontier Florida.
Dr. Schafer is a Distinguished Professor Emeritus of History at the University of North Florida, is the author of six books, including Anna Madgigine Jai Kingsley: African Princess, Florida Slave, Plantation Slaveowner.
The Emeriti Book Club meets the 2nd Wednesday of every month at 10:00 a.m. in the Office of Alumni Services located at Alumni Hall. Beverages and snacks will be provided. To join us or for more information please contact the Office of Alumni Services at (904) 620-2490.

Throw on your best denim, add some bling, and dance the night away. This third annual event is sure to be a blast!
Tickets are $40/person or $75/couple and include complimentary cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, music, raffle and silent auction. All proceeds from the silent auction will benefit student scholarships for study abroad.

UNF men's and women's soccer team will participate in their final home matches of the season this week at Hodges Stadium. In association with National Cancer Awareness Month, the Atlantic Sun Conference men’s soccer programs have partnered with the Coaches vs. Cancer Foundation. In the five A-Sun men’s soccer contests played on Thursday and Friday, all players competing will be wearing pink armbands and tape, while the coaches will be showing support by wearing pink polo shirts on the sidelines.
The lady Ospreys will be wearing pink warm-up gear as well as pink shoelaces to support breast cancer awareness. Any donations made to the women’s soccer team will be put together with women’s basketball in February and a check will be sent from North Florida women’s athletics as one donation to the Kay Yow Foundation. Fans are encouraged to wear pink to the matches to help support cancer research and the UNF soccer teams. For game times and more information please visit www.unfospreys.com.

This exhibit showcases the Library’s latest Special Collection, recently donated by Linda and Lawrence Smith. Smith, a resident of Jacksonville for over five decades, had a distinguished career earning four Emmy awards for his photography. He and his wife Linda, a retired charter member of the Carpenter Library (1972-2010), donated a large collection of his photographs, slides, and related memorabilia in March 2010.This gift represents a major addition to the Special Collections of the Carpenter Library. Of particular interest is the diversity of subjects, ranging from transportation scenes to aerial images of the University of North Florida. Also included is a representative selection of the photo advertisements created by Smith during his career.
