Biography
I began my aquatic experience as a lifeguard at the age of sixteen. Little did I know that summer job would turn in to a full time career in aquatic based recreation.
As an undergraduate at the University of North Florida, I worked at the Aquatic Center as a lifeguard and swim instructor. Eventually I obtained additional certifications to be an American Red Cross lifeguard instructor, an Aquatic Exercise Association water exercise instructor, and an Arthritis Foundation aquatic instructor.
Shortly after graduating, I was hired for the full time program coordinator position where I supervised the very large and successful swim lessons program. Years of experience as the coordinator opened up the opportunity to pursue the aquatics assistant director position for campus recreation.
I am now the Assistant Director of Recreation for aquatics and am responsible for the staffing and operations of the Aquatic Center. Through my years as coordinator and assistant director, I have enjoyed teaching as an adjunct instructor for Foundations of Secondary Education. My experience and certifications in aquatics provide a great foundation to share the world of aquatic exercise, skill, and sport with UNF students.
