Administration and FinanceTip of the Week - January 21, 2008Does your office look safe?Perhaps compared to other work areas, office hazards at UNF may seem pretty tame. However, each year a number of employees throughout the university receive injuries from office accidents. The leading causes of office injuries are slipping, tripping, and falling. Sound familiar? Here are some ways to prevent falls in our office areas: keep the office free from clutter. Boxes should be stacked out of the way of traffic. Trash and spills should be cleaned up from the floor. Re-route electrical and other cords away from traffic areas. Report and repair any defective chairs and other furnishings to your supervisor or Physical Facilities. Close drawers so nobody will trip over them and if you see loose carpeting, close off the area and report it to your supervisor or Physical Facilities. Don't use makeshift ladders such as boxes stacked on chairs--use stepladders and stepstools correctly. For further information contact Environmental Health & Safety at ext. 2019.
