Description:

Over twenty species of Tulbaghia are native to Africa. Society garlic is native to southern Africa. The plant has a garlic-like habit of growth and, when the leaves are crushed, a garlic-like smell. The slender foliage is evergreen. Violet-colored flowers are held on stalks above the foliage and are produced over a long season from spring to fall. Due to its slow growth and low height, a new planting of society garlic is prone to weeds.

Water: tolerates irrigation, very drought tolerant when established

This is an easy plant for northeast Florida. Grow it in a sunny, well-drained site.
