Over one hundred species of Muhlenbergia are native to North America
and Asia. Bamboo muhly grass is native to
and northern Mexico.
It is a clumping grass with upright stalks and slender leaves that give it the
appearance of a small, slender bamboo. Flowers are inconspicuous.
