Description:

Approximately 400 holly species are native to the Americas, Europe and Asia, with one species in Africa. This is a hybrid, reportedly of multiple parent species. It has a tight pyramidal form and tends to keep its foliage to the ground. The small, thick leaves are deeply lobed but lack the sharp spines of some hollies. Hollies are dioecious and this selection is a seed-bearing plant. A pollen-bearing holly is needed to set fruit.

Size:

Reported to grow to fourteen feet tall and eight feet wide. This is a relatively new hybrid on the market. Gardeners should not be surprised if it grows taller.

Care Instructions:

Light: full sun to part shade

Water: drought tolerant when established

Soil: very adaptable, no special requirements

This is an attractive hybrid that shows great potential for use in north Florida gardens. It survived its first year on campus, including a particularly dry, hot summer.
