Analysis

  1. Identify and meet with site stakeholders
  2. Evaluate existing site structure / information architecture
  3. Analyze advanced site functionality
  4. Determine visual layout
  5. Identify users and their roles
  6. Create a plan for migration

Migration

  1. Prepare site folder
  2. Build permissions
  3. Train content migrators
  4. Migrate static content
    • Cut and paste content
    • Re-upload images and files
    • Re-attach hyperlinks
    • Re-build menu navigation
    • Construct layout of the page
  5. Implement custom solutions for dynamic content (as identified in the migration plan)

Testing

  1. Review site to confirm all content is migrated
  2. Check hyperlinks
  3. Test performance and display on multiple browsers

Approval

  1. Configure final permissions and workflow, if desired
  2. Train all content editors 
  3. Review and approval by Site Stakeholders and Owner (confirm accuracy and completeness)
  4. Review and approval by Internet Presence Committee
  5. Confirm a mutually agreeable launch date for Site Stakeholders and CMS Admin

Go-Live

  1. Confirm and implement ISA rules, redirects, and aliases
  2. Announce launch of the new site
  3. Disable permissions and access to old site on Osprey
