Consider Setting up a Temporary Voice Mail Greeting
 |
When you are out of the office, a temporary voice mail greeting is a helpful tool to inform callers of when you expect to be back in the office. This option enables you to set an expiration date and avoid re-recording your internal and external greetings after you return.
To create a temporary voice mail greeting, login to the voice mail system using your extension number and password. Then follow the steps below.
|
- Press 8 2
- Press 3 to select temporary greeting
- Next press 5 and record your greeting (tell callers when you expect to be back in the office)
- Press # to end your recording
- You can press 2 to review your greeting and 7 6 if you wish to delete it
- When you are finished, press 9 to set an expiry date and time - you will be prompted for the month, date and time. Remember to include the # after each entry. If you do not select an expiry date and time, the temporary greeting will stay in effect until you delete it.
To access your voice mail, press the "Message" button on your office phone or from off campus, dial 620-3900
Always Include a Subject Line in Your Email
There are many reasons to always include a subject line in every email you sent. Using a subject line is a courtesy to those you email. It helps with organizing and tracking email threads. We receive so many emails these days that being able to scan our inbox for time sensitive topics aids in efficiency. Many email readers will put emails without subjects into a “Junk” or “Spam” folder that the recipient may overlook. Emails with empty subject lines are also being generated by compromised computers or email accounts from users lured into Phishing scams.
