 Math Placement Information

All beginning UNF freshman are required to complete math placement testing prior to attending orientation*. If you do not complete the exam prior to your scheduled orientation session you forfeit your seat and will have to reschedule for a different available orientation date.

If your score so indicates, you will be required to complete non-credit preparatory math courses at the community college prior to enrolling in college level math. During the advising portion of Orientation, your academic advisor will discuss your results and placement.

IMPORTANT

It is critical you take this exam seriously and prepare yourself to
put forth your best effort in completing the exam.
Your scores will be used to place you in an appropriate math course.

The exam is divided into two sections. Your score on the first part of the exam will determine your need to continue with the second portion. Not all students will be able to continue to the second section of the exam. Maximum test time: 2 hours.

Before you begin the UNF Math Placement Exam:

terms, you will not be allowed to proceed with
testing. It is important that you read the entire
    policy statement.

* Students who have scored below the minimum scores on the SAT (less than a 440) or the ACT (less than a 19) on the Math portions of these tests are required by the state of Florida to take the College Placement Test (CPT). Students needing to take the CPT are informed on their UNF Admissions letter. Those needing to take the CPT can make an appointment with the UNF Testing Center at (904) 620-2927 or with a local community college. The CPT must be taken and you must have your scores sent to UNF prior to attending your scheduled orientation session. Those required to take the CPT will not need to take the UNF Math placement exam as the CPT will serve as your placement. If you are unsure if you need to take the CPT please contact (904) 620-2411.
