Early Academic Alert System
This program is targeted toward freshman students during the first six weeks of class, but is available for faculty to use for any student throughout the semester. If a student becomes aware of poor performance during the first six weeks of the semester, that student will likely have the opportunity to improve his or her grade to an acceptable, passing level. If a student does not become aware of poor performance until later in the semester, his or her only option may be to withdraw from the course.
The goal of the EAAS is to connect struggling students with academic support services across campus that can help them identify and remediate the source of their academic difficulties. These services include: subject-specific tutoring at ACE, academic skills workshops at ACE, personal counseling at the UNF Counseling Center, one-on-one meetings with their academic advisor, and other services applicable to each student's unique needs. These students will also be referred back to their course instructor for more intensive and course-specific work during office hours.
