SAMPLE External Reviewer Itinerary

 


FINANCIAL REMINDER: Academic Affairs will provide a maximum of $300 for food expenses. In addition, Academic Affairs will reimburse the department for the agreed honorarium, typically $1000 for a 2-day visit, and all documented travel related expenses (e.g., hotel, airfare, meals based on per diem).

Sample 2-day schedule

Pick up reviewer from the airport and take to hotel (unless review elects to pick up a rental car)

At a minimum, the reviewer should meet with the dean, department chair, faculty, students, executive director for assessment, and the program review committee.

Some programs may have advisory boards—which should be included in the overall process.

 

Day 1
8:30 - 9:00 a.m. Pick up from Hotel and bring to campus
9:00 - 9:30 a.m. Tour of the facilities
9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Meet with Dean
10:30 - 11:30 a.m. Chair and/or Other appropriate Administrators
10:30 a.m. - Noon Meetings with individual faculty (usually 20-30 minutes)
Noon - 1:30 p.m. Lunch with students
1:30 - 2:00 p.m. Meeting with Executive Director of Assessment
2:00 - 5:00 p.m. More meetings with individual faculty (usually 20-30 minutes)
5:00 p.m.  Return to hotel
6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Dinner with reviewer
Day 2
8:30 - 9:00 a.m. Pick up from Hotel and bring to campus
9:00- 10:00 a.m. Meetings with individual faculty
10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Meeting with any other interested constituents
11:00 a.m. - Noon Free Time for Consultant to Prepare Preliminary Report
Noon - 1:30 p.m. Lunch with Faculty
1:30 - 2:00 p.m. Meeting with Dean
2:00 - 2:30 p.m. Meeting with Chair
2:30- 3:30 p.m. Exit interview with program review committee, dean, and chair
3:30 p.m. Head to Hotel or Airport depending on flight schedule???
