Goal 1: Advance the recruitment of academically ready and culturally diverse students and set occasions for their success.

Action 1.1: Strategically recruit FTIC and Florida Associate of Arts students in accordance with BOG enrollment targets while increasing both academic profile and diversity

Freshmen profile increased based on higher SAT scores (average 1208)

Office of Admissions has hired a recruitment specialist focused on high-profile entering freshmen

Enrollment Services is offering a number of scholarship incentives to attract and enroll students from underrepresented areas for example the Jacksonville Commitment Plan and Pathways to Success programs.
Action 1.2: Continue to develop initiatives in areas of advising to increase university retention and graduation rates and begin to set targets

Advising will be overseen by both the Dean of Underegraduate Studies as well as the college deans. ACE will fall under Undergraduate Studies rather than Enrollment Services

Reorganize the UG Studies office to include an Executive Director of Advising to oversee all the advising efforts on campus

In UNF's legislative budget request, include expansion of undergraduate advising (5 upper division advisors and 3 advisors in ACE)

Research possibility of developing a scheduling piece in the Academic Roadmaps program to help facilitiate more effective couse scheduling to increase time-to-degree

Increase number of faculty contacts from 2 to 8
Action 1.3: Develop first-year programming to facilitate the transition, integration, and engagement of freshmen students

UNF's first annual new student Fall Convocation was held for both new freshmen and new transers and their families

Venture Studies programming

With the new dean of UG Studies, the university will commence to develop and implement a Freshmen Experience credit-bearing course
Action 1.4: Increase the number of Pell Grant recipients

Increase Pell disbursement from $101.5million to $125 million and increase in percentage of Pell recipients among all degrees granted. Increased from 29.8% to 33.3%

Goal 2: Advance the scope and quality of academic programs in a manner consistent with the mission and resources of the university.

Action 2.1: Monitor as appropriate new and existing undergraduate and graduate programs in conjunction with the program review and strategic planning processes

Review current policy on creation of new programs and termination of program policies

Review and revise as appropriate the Program Review Committee

In 2010-11, the Provost's Task Force on Institutional Redesign engaged in conversations about potential course redesigns for common "gatekeeper" courses (courses which impede or prevent student success in programs).

Program Review Committee reviewed programs in World Languages, English and FIE.

Met with department chairs and deans to discuss the potential programs in Construction Management, Psychology, Public Health, Social Work
Action 2.2: Continue Quality Enhancement Plan implementation; consider Carnegie classificaiton of Engaged Institution

Support the Center for Community Based Learning in terms of human and financial resources

Create risk management protocol as well as mechanism for monitoring student and faculty CCBL activities

Establish committee to review Carnegie Engaged Institution classification and begin to work on application
Action 2.3: Initiate process of student learning outcomes testing as required by the Voluntary System of Accountability using ETS

Fall 2010, the Executive Director of Assessment implemented the ETS testing to identified groups.
Action 2.4: Join the Educational Advisory Board

EAB membership will provide UNF with reports covering many areas wihin the Academic Affairs division including distance learning, advising, freshmen year experience, program efficiency

Goal 3: Advance the diversification and scholarly engagement of the faculty.

Action 3.1: Develop, propose, and implement strategies for enhancing the diversity of the faculty profile

Included in the annual Florida Equity Report, Academic Affairs allocated over $182,000 for efforts to recruit and retain fauclty identified as part of an underrepresented category
Action 3.2: Support alternative practices for teaching and scholarship such as distance learning and applied research

the university sought DL approval from the BOG and was successful. DL funding will begin in Fall 2011.
Action 3.3: Increase external research funding
Action 3.4: Implement new strategies to highlight faculty scholarship and research efforts

Working with ITS, create Faculty Expertise Database to showcase faculty areas of expertise

Goal 4: Advance community outreach and partners.

Action 4.1: Develop initiatives designed to advance the goals of the university's QEP through the Center for Community Based Learning

CCBL should have its own funding opportunities available in the 2010 year
