HEALTH CARE LEADERSHIP
Mission Statement
The BSH Health Care Leadership Track is designed to meet the needs of the student with an earned associate in science degree in various allied health fields of study. The mission of the track is to prepare allied health professionals for leadership positions, future graduate study, and career mobility.
Student Learning Outcomes
A graduate of the BSH in Health Care Leadership track will be able to:
Content/Discipline Specific Knowledge & Skills
Understand the theoretical basis of business, law, organizational behavior, organizational design and strategic management in relation to health care organizations.
Know of the changing population demographics in the United States, and the impact of those changes on health and health care.
Demonstrate skill in managing resources in diverse healthcare care organizations.
Demonstrate statistical skills needed to evaluate research data and quantify the impact of actions related to delivery of quality health care.
Critical Thinking Skills
Assess quality of both business practices and health care delivery focusing on outcomes measurements, process/outcome relationships, and methods for process improvement.
Apply legal and ethical analysis to healthcare business related decisions.
Demonstrate ethical behavior and professional accountability in all interactions with faculty and colleagues.
Analyze government health policy in relation to U.S. healthcare systems.
Communication Skills
Demonstrate effective, written and oral communication skills.
Develop and execute professional presentations.
Assessment Approaches
Mastery of content-specific knowledge and skills will be assessed primarily through proficiency on course embedded assessments and evaluation measures. Indirect measures such as alumni surveys, student perception surveys, employer feedback, and job placement rates will also be used as approaches to monitor the attainment of identified student learning outcomes
