Voluntary System of Accountability
The University of North Florida is pleased to be an early adopter of the Voluntary System of Accountability (VSA), joining more than 300 universities and colleges committed to making institutional data more accessible to parents, students, counselors, and lawmakers. The VSA is an initiative developed by the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) and the National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges (NASULGC) in an effort to help institutions with the following objectives:
• Demonstrate accountability and stewardship to public
• Measure educational outcomes to identify effective educational practices
• Future plans of recent graduates. To view results of recent graduates survey, visit Future Plans Survey (Spring 2009)
• Assemble information that is accessible, understandable, and comparable Institutions organize and publish data in the College Portrait. This data will be updated on an annual basis. The College Portrait includes the following information:
• Student and Family information – student characteristics, cost, completion rates, types of degrees
• UNF Community – studying and living on the UNF campus
• Student experiences and perceptions – measures of the level of engagement that students feel in both the curricular and co-curricular activities on campus. UNF is scheduled to participate in the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) again in the spring, 2009. Results published in the UNF College Portrait are from spring 2006. For more information on UNF's Voluntary System of Accountability, visit UNF's College Portrait
• Student Learning Outcomes – measures of student learning. In addition to the assessment activities at the department or program level, and the Academic Learning Compact information, UNF will administer the Collegiate Learning Assessment in the coming year.
