Brooks College of Health

  • In 2010, all graduates of the first Doctorate of Physical Therapy class passed the licensing examination on the first attempt.

  • The School of Nursing graduated its first cohort of Doctor of Nurse Practitioner students in 2010 and the program itself became the first in the state of Florida to receive national accreditation.

  • A faculty member in the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics is the winner of the American Dietetic Association’s Excellence in Practice Award in Dietetic Education.

  • A faculty member in the School of Nursing was honored with the U.S. Department of Defense, Armed Services Blood Program Lifetime Achievement Award, only the third person in the award’s history to be selected.

Coggin College of Business

  • The Transportation & Logistics Flagship Program is ranked the 14th most productive program among colleges and universities with publications in seven internationally recognized logistics journals.

  • For the forth year in a row, The Princeton Review recognized the Coggin College as one of the best business schools in the country.

  • In addition to a wellregarded MBA program, the college offers a global program where students take classes in Germany, France and China. The college also has a bilingual Ibero-American master’s degree in which students combine UNF coursework with classes in Spain and Argentina.

  • Coggin College students have the opportunity to gain real-world asset management experience via a student-managed investment fund named the Osprey Financial Group, which oversees an initial portfolio investment of $500,000.

  • Students from the Department of Music have performed all over the world. UNF sent chorale students to sing in a tour of Italy and opera students to perform in the Czech Republic, while the Wind Symphony performed in New York’s Carnegie Hall.

  • The Psychology Department boasts several national and international scholars including a faculty member who received a Fullbright grant to serve as a U.S. Senior Specialist at the Universidad Autonoma de Sinaloa in Mexico; a fellow from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation; and the co-organizer of the First International Symposium on Psychological Tests in Lima, Peru.

  • A faculty member in the History Department was awarded a Kislak Fellowship in American Studies at the Library of Congress and has been appointed to the Federal Commission for St. Augustine’s 450th anniversary.

  • A professor in the Sociology Department received a Fullbright Scholarship to serve as a visiting professor at City University in Hong Kong.

College of Computing, Engineering and Construction 

  • The University of North Florida’s new Gaming and Mobile Applications concentration uses video games to teach real-world computing and information technology skills. More than just play, entertainment software is being used as a gateway to impart programming knowledge and energize the millennial generation to pursue computing degrees and high-tech careers beyond gaming.

  • The Department of Construction Management entered into undergraduate and graduate exchange programs with the American University of Cairo and the Ecole Polytechnique Feminine Graduate School of Engineering in Paris. Students enrolled in the program still earn their degrees at UNF, but have the opportunity to study cutting-edge technology and research in Egypt and France.

  • The University of North Florida/Duval County Public Schools Urban Professional Development School Partnership, an innovative partnership for preparing teachers in Jacksonville, was the inaugural recipient of the Award for Exemplary Professional Development School Achievement by the National Association of Professional Development Schools. It is the second time in five years the program has received national recognition.

  • A faculty member in the college won the Florida Times-Union Education EVE Award in the education category. Finalists also included two UNF alumni. The EVE Awards recognize women for their efforts and accomplishments in the Jacksonville community.

  • UNF also has the only master’s degree option in ASL/English Interpreting that is available via distance-learning technology. Students from 15 states in the Southeast region may attend at in-state tuition.

  • Two finalists for the 2010 Macy’s/Florida Department of Education Teacher of the Year Award are COEHS alumni.
