Faculty Announcements

  • Dr. Hyunsun Choi was recommended for tenure and promotion to associate professor by the Provost in February 2011.
     
  • Dr. Henry Thomas will be retiring after 20 years of service to UNF. His lasting lecture will be April 8, 2011 on the first floor of Building 51. We will have a reception afterwards. All are welcome.
     
  • Dr. David Schwam-Baird is doing a summer travel course to Turkey in Summer 2011. Contact Dr. Schwam-Baird if interested.

New Faculty Members

The Department has hired three new faculty members as assistant professors for the 2011-2012 academic year.

  •  Dr. Michael Binder received his Ph.D. from the University of California at San Diego and is currently one of only two Political Science Post Doctorate Fellows at the Lane Center at Stanford University. Dr. Binder is an expert in political behavior, vote choice, and analyzing state initiatives. Dr. Binder will teach American politics for undergraduate majors.
     
  •  Dr. Georgette Dumont received her Ph.D. from Northern Illinois University. She is an expert in the management of nonprofits and how technology is being used in the nonprofit sector. She will be teaching primarily in the Masters of Public Administration program.
  •  Dr. Sucheta Pyakuryal received her Ph.D from the University of Akron, Ohio.  She is bringing to our department her expertise in urban studies, public affairs, and  comparative politics.  Dr. Pyakuryal will teach in the Masters of Public Administration program and assist students with her knowledge of South Asia.
