One
Spark needs student volunteers for giant event
One Spark, Jacksonville's answer to Austin's SXSW music,
film, and interactive conference, will take place in the River City from April
17 through April 21. Creators in art, music, science and technology
from all over the world will showcase ideas and projects to
connect with a $250,000 crowdfund awarded by popular vote, up to $1
million. Even organizers need volunteers to make
One Spark a great and unique experience for Jacksonville. Students are essential in this mix
as the organizers of One Spark share
a belief that game-changers emerge from dorm rooms, garages and small studios.
It’s the community behind great ideas. This is your opportunity to
get involved, be inspired, connect and collaborate. There are hundreds of
ways to get involved. Check out the organization's volunteer
role descriptions by clicking here. If you

depth, call Meredith
O'Malley Johnson, Volunteer Services Manager for One Spark, at
(904) 332-9233 or email her at Meredith@beonespark.com.
Secondly, sign up with the organization's Volunteer Hub to start your volunteering. It's easy
and only takes a minute. Be a part of something big!!!
One
Pre-Internship course offered during summer
Communication students interested in enrolling in an internship
are now required to have taken the one-credit-hour Pre-Internship course, MMC 3942.
You may take the course anytime during your college career as long as it has
been taken by the time you wish to register for an internship. These
courses have been in great demand the last two semesters as students prepare
for taking an internship. Be aware that only one such Pre-Internship course is
being offered during the summer, during Summer A on Fridays from 12:40 p.m. to
3 p.m. There is a cap on the course so it will fill up quickly!

Create a QR code for your ePortfolio
It's about that time of year
when soon-to-be college
graduates begin their job search. One job-search tool
you've all bee creating is your ePortfolio.
A super way to extend the reach of your ePortfolio is to create a QR (Quick Response) code
that will link to your ePortfolio's URL. You could then place the QR code
on your business card so there'd never be a need to write down the URL; all a
prospective employer need do is scan the code. There are many sources
online that will help create a free QR code for you, here's one.
