Scholarship Opportunities

James Van Vleck Endowed Scholarship

Established in 2002, this gift provides scholarships entering freshman majoring in liberal arts in the College of Arts and Sciences who wish to participate in a study abroad program. This endowment is part of the College of Arts and Sciences Endowed Scholarship/Fellowship Fund.

James Van Vleck Promising Future Scholarship

Established in 2005, this gift provides scholarships for students majoring in art history, ceramics and sculpture, graphic design, multimedia, painting, drawing or photography in the College of Arts and Sciences. Eligible students must present at a regional or national conference or have a UNF approved study-abroad trip scheduled to be completed prior to graduation.

 

Paul E. Ladnier Scholarship

The Paul E. Ladnier Scholarship was established in honor of Professor Paul E. Ladnier, UNF Associate Professor Emeritus of Painting and Drawing, upon his retirement in spring, 2010. The scholarship provides assistance to University of North Florida students majoring in painting and drawing.

 

Lazzara Family Scholarship

Established in 2001 by Irene and Gasper Lazzara, this gift provides scholarship for students majoring in the fine and performing arts.


Application packet must be uploaded to the Lazzara Scholarship blackboard course by February 12, 2016.

Hope McMath Leadership in the Arts Scholarship 

This scholarship was established in honor of Hope McMath, Executive Director of The Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens, for her outstanding leadership. The scholarship provides assistance to University of North Florida art majors who would like to pursue a career in fine arts administration.

The Gray University Scholarship

This gift assists eligible students with the opportunity to participate in a funded semester of study abroad or undergraduate research.

 

Falloon Study Abroad

The College of Arts and Sciences is pleased to offer an award of $1,000.00 to a select student who will be participating in a UNF-approved study abroad program in a non-English speaking country between TBA.

 

 

2015 Friends of Art and Design Scholarship

The Department of Art and Design is pleased to announce four $1,000.00 scholarships to be used for the study abroad program in Italy from May 18-June 30th, 2015. Sponsored by the Friends of Art and Design, The Machin Scholarship for Study Abroad, The Eisen Scholarship for Study Abroad and the James Van Vleck Promising Future Grant, these travel awards will add to the missions of the department and the university in our quest to increase opportunities for transformational experiences associated with study abroad.

 

Eligibility:  Applicants must be UNF degree seeking students in good standing registered for at least 6 hours this spring 2015 semester. Students must have at least a 2.8 overall average and have reached at least sophomore status. Winners of the scholarships must register for a minimum of six hours credit associated with the Italy program. Recipients of the Gray Scholarship are not eligible. Department of Art and Design majors may receive priority consideration but minors in the department and other majors are encouraged to apply too.

 

Requirements: Complete the attached questionnaire and return it with your responses to the Department of Art and Design office, 45/2022, no later than 3 pm January 30, 2015. Proofread and use spellcheck! Ask someone to read over your application.  


 

 

 


Lu Ann and Doran  Weinstein Memorial Scholarship in Visual Arts Award -- DUE BY DECEMBER 2 BY 4:00PM 

 

Established in 2011, this gift provides scholarships that are need based grants (students must have filed a current FAFSA) for students who are major or minors in art history, photography, ceramics, painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture or any future visual arts disciplines.   

 

 

Criteria:  

    

   Before submitting this application, the Free Application for Federal Aid (FASFA) application must be completed, and a demonstrated financial need must be established with the UNF Office of Financial Aid.

 

  Students must have a minimum 2.5 Cumulative GPA at the University of North Florida. PLEASE NOTE that admission for the Italy Program requires a 2.8 GPA.

 

   Must travel with a UNF, Department of Art and Design Study Abroad program (Italy or Ireland) in the Summer of 2016.
