UNF Chamber Singers

Cara Tasher, conductor

The UNF Chamber Singers are an elite ensemble of auditioned singers selected from the Chorale, who serve as the primary fundraising ensemble for the choral area. They typically perform ten to twenty concerts throughout the academic year.

This versatile group, as well as its smaller component, the “President’s Own,” has won applause and recognition from diverse groups such as Manhattan Concert Productions International, Florida ACDA, Florida House of Representatives Stanley Jordan, the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars, the River City Club, Jacksonville Sister Cities Association, the Selva Marina, and many other prominent associations. The Chamber Singers were recently spotlighted on the world stage as they sang the national anthem to open the 2012 Florida Republican Debate, which was broadcast live on CNN. The group’s repertoire covers a wide range of styles, from Monteverdi to Whitacre to Britten, and includes choral gems from the genres of world music and vocal jazz.

Auditions occur at the beginning of each academic year, seeking those who bring a high level of excellence and enthusiasm to both solo and choral music performance. The UNF Chamber Singers and the “President’s Own” are available for bookings through the conductor.
