Summary:

This course introduces students to the economy and society of Brazil.  Brazil is a leading trade partner of the state of Florida, and familiarity with its businesses could be quite useful to business and economics students and their employers.  Moreover, this study abroad course includes a visit to Gama Filho University (GFU), a prestigious private institution in Rio de Janeiro.  Participants will be able to interact with Brazilian students and faculty on campus, and attend lectures addressing current economic and social issues in Brazil. 

 

Many historical and cultural landmarks will also be visited.  Students will prepare for the trip by conducting research on key aspects of the country's history, culture, business practices and economy; and presenting a research report in class during the spring 2012 semester.

  • ECO 2013: Principles of Macroeconomics and
  • ECO 2023: Principles of Microeconomics

Cost:

$2,800 (plus the cost of 3 hours UNF Spring 2012 tuition, and a Brazillian visa - approximately $160)

  • 1st Payment: $500 due by November 1, 2011
  • 2nd Payment: $2,300 due by February 1, 2012

Note: Interview required prior to acceptance.  After a complete application is submitted to Coggin Study Abroad, Dr. Baliamoune-Lutz will contact students to set up an interview time.  Charges will not be posted to student accounts unless students are officially accepted after the interview.
