Javier Salinas

Professor of the Day – International Business Program

Javier Salinas is recently retired as director of international operations for Insteel Industries, the nation’s largest manufacturer of steel wire reinforcing products for concrete construction applications. During his time at Insteel, he was granted the President’s “E Award” by the US Secretary of Commerce for his efforts in the promotion of exports. Over 20 years ago, Mr. Salinas guided Insteel into international sales that reached $15 million in sales and exported to 23 countries.

Prior to joining Insteel Industries, he was associated with Bridon Group of Doncaster, England, where he served as president and chief executive officer of several of their companies, including Bridon Caribbean in Puerto Rico. He was then transferred to Springfield, NJ, to start up a company that became a $20 million per year organization.

Mr. Salinas serves on the Business Advisory Council of the Coggin College of Business at the University of North Florida and previously served on the Jacksonville International Business Coalition under Mayor John Peyton. He earned degrees in Industrial Economics and Engineering from Iowa State University.
