Professor of the Day – Department of Management
Gil Pomar is the market president of the Northeast Region for CenterState Bank of Florida. He is responsible for establishing CenterState Bank in the area, as well as opening branches and looking for acquisition opportunities to expand the bank’s branch network. He began his career as a credit analyst with Barnett Bank and then took a position at the First National Bank of Chicago in Miami. In his role as relationship manager, he was responsible for large real estate project lending throughout the Southeast before returning to his hometown of Jacksonville in 1990. Upon returning to Jacksonville, he became the manager of commercial banking for First Union.
Mr. Pomar is very active in the community as he serves on the Business Advisory Council of the Coggin College of Business at the University of North Florida. He also is the past chairman of the American Cancer Society Duval County Unit and current president of Junior Achievement of North Florida. Mr. Pomar earned a degree in Finance from the University of Florida.
