Interim Provost Pamela S. Chally
Pamela S. Chally was appointed by President Delaney as the Interim
Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at the University of North
Florida beginning October 2, 2017. Dr.
Chally was previously the dean and professor of nursing in the Brooks College
of Health where she oversaw the administration of the Department of Public
Health, the Department of Clinical and Applied Movement Sciences, the
Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, and the School of Nursing. She has a
doctorate in nursing from Georgia State University, a master’s of nursing from
Emory University and a bachelor’s in nursing from the University of Illinois.
Dr. Chally has worked as an academic administrator and nursing faculty member
for more than 40 years. During her tenure, she raised almost $30 million in
support of the Brooks College of Health and saw the College more than double in
terms of enrollment and faculty positions.
Dr. Chally serves on the Brooks
Rehabilitation Board, the Ronald McDonald House Advisory Board, and Baptist Health in addition to participating in other community
and professional organizations. She has more than 30 publications, primarily in
the areas of nursing education and women’s health. She was named one of
Florida’s Great 100 Nurses. She was honored as a “Women of Influence” by the
Jacksonville Business Journal, was named the Distinguished Professor at the University
of North Florida and received the EVE award for Education. In addition, she
received the Desmond Tutu Peace and Reconciliation Award, Transformational
Leadership and Collaborative Engagement Award, the Health Source Inspiration
Award, the Girls Inc. of Jacksonville Award for Education, and the Girl Scouts
of Gateway Council Woman of Distinction Award.
