Osprey Radio, the University of North Florida’s student-operated campus radio station, has been nominated as a 2012 “Best Student-Run, Internet-Only Station.” This is the second consecutive year Osprey Radio has earned this honor, which comes from the College Music Journal, a radio and broadcast industry leader.
The college radio station is among five universities in North America and the only Florida university competing for the title. According to CMJ.com, the other nominees for 2012’s “Best Student-Run, Internet-Only Station” include UCLA Radio (University of California), KSLU (St. Louis University), Radio UTD (University of Texas-Dallas) and UTA Radio (University of Texas-Arlington).
“It’s an honor to be recognized for our staff’s dedication to the format," said Lizzie Russo, a UNF student and Osprey Radio station manager.
Voting will take place for the award during the weeklong CMJ Music Marathon in New York City, where the winner will be announced at the College Day awards ceremony Thursday, Oct. 18.
Osprey Radio, which has been in existence less than 20 years, serves UNF through its indie rock music format and by offering its students real-world production opportunities.
