With age comes wisdom and staying active is paramount to maintaining that knowledge. The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at the University of North Florida in the Division of Continuing Education will play host to the 2012 Annual Southern Regional Learning in Retirement Conference Wednesday, July 25, through Friday, July 27.
Program leaders, directors, volunteers and students are attending from multiple states, including Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Louisiana, Texas, Alabama, Mississippi, Virginia and West Virginia. Participants will also be coming from outside the region, some as far away as Illinois.
“Program participants and leaders know the best ideas come from other people,” said Jeanette Toohey, Director of OLLI at UNF. “Participants will leave this conference with the tools to make their programs successful, sustainable and engaging.”
With a focus on innovation, the conference will cover topics such as curricula development, marketing, sustainability and serving multiple generations. There will be 15 sessions, with at least one curriculum session during each set of concurrent sessions, with styles ranging from lecture to workshop. Session titles include “
Teaching Two Generations,” “Tactics for Dealing with Sticky Situations,” “Building Partnerships to Enhance Programming, Critical Thinking in the Adult Learning Classroom” and “Creating a Dynamic Culture of Volunteerism”.
Students, leaders, staffs and organization will leave with tools to take home and apply to their programs immediately.
Cost of the conference is only $199.
The conference runs from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 25; 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 26; and 8:30 a.m. to noon, Friday, July 27.
