The University of North Florida’s Department of English, in conjunction with the City of Atlantic Beach, will present its third season of Shakespeare in the Park. This year’s production of “Much Ado About Nothing”will open at UNF Friday, April 6, and will move to the Church of the Good Shepherd for a downtown performance, and close at Russell Park in Atlantic Beach.
Gossip, rumors and eavesdropping drive the plot of this enduring comedy about love, status and the relationship between men and women. This production is directed by Dr. Pam Monteleone, UNF associate professor of English, with music by Ryan Janney and swordplay by Raul Toro. The cast features UNF students and members of the Jacksonville community.
UNF performances will be held on the UNF Green out in front of the Fine Arts Center, Friday, April 13; Saturday, April 14; and Sunday, April 15. All UNF performances start at 8 pm with live music beginning at 7:45 p.m. General admission for UNF performances is $15 and $5 for students with a valid ID. Tickets may also be purchased at the gate beginning at 7:30 p.m. Parking is available at the Fine Arts Center Parking Garage, Garage 44. There will also be one downtown performance in the Worsham Theatre at the Church of the Good Shepherd, located at 1100 Stockton Street in Riverside at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 19, with music beginning at 7:15 p.m. The performance is a presentation of the Chamber Music Society of Good Shepherd and is free and open to the public. Atlantic Beach performances will be held in Russell Park at 8 p.m., weather permitting, Friday, April 20, and again Saturday, April 21. Live music begins at 7:45 p.m. Atlantic Beach performances are free and open to the public. Patrons should bring chairs and a picnic dinner, if they choose.
