The University of North Florida’s Department of Construction Management in the College of Computing, Engineering and Construction (CCEC) was granted reaccreditation by the Board of Trustees of the American Council for Construction Education (ACCE).

“The UNF Construction Management Program has maintained the stringent standards of the ACCE and has proven to our board, through a visiting team of its peers and industry practitioners, that the program is worthy of reaccreditation,” said Michael Holland, AACE executive vice president and CEO.

The Department of Construction Management worked diligently for three years in preparation for the accreditation visit by ACCE, its accrediting body. The faculty prepared course journals and rubrics for a period of two years, depicting topical contents of the course curriculum and documents attesting to the academic quality of the department. Construction Management student activities, competitions and club activities also had to be well documented for the reaccreditation process.

“The Building Construction Management program is critically important to the region and the College. Accreditation demonstrates the high quality of the program and is a mark of distinction in which we take great pride,” said Dr. Mark Tumeo, CCEC dean.

UNF’s Department of Construction Management provides students a program of study that prepares individuals for a variety of positions in the construction industry. The program consists of a management-oriented technical curriculum regarding building construction, computer concepts, as well as business and general education.

The American Council for Construction Education was established in 1974 to be a leading global advocate of quality construction education and to promote, support and accredit quality construction education programs around the world. ACCE is recognized by the Council for Higher Education as the accrediting agency for four-year baccalaureate degree programs in construction, construction science, construction management and construction technology, as well as the accrediting agency for two-year associate degree programs of a similar nature.
