More than 300 University of North Florida students will dedicate 17 hours and three minutes overnight on their feet dancing to raise funds and awareness for Children’s Miracle Network during the third annual UNF Dance Marathon at the UNF Arena, beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, and continuing until 11:03 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 21.
Seventeen hours represents the 17 million children worldwide who are treated each year in Children’s Miracle Network hospitals, while an additional three minutes has been added to celebrate the event’s third year at UNF. All funds raised by the event will support the pediatric programs at two local hospitals, Shands Jacksonville and Wolfson Children’s Hospital.
This University-sponsored event is aimed at supporting the Children's Miracle Network of Northeast Florida/Southeast Georgia. Funds raised by UNF Dance Marathon are used to purchase critically-needed medical equipment, child life resources and educational materials.
UNF Dance Marathon is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to raise funds for local Jacksonville children’s hospitals and programs through the Children’s Miracle Network.Since its inception at the University, students have raised more than $35,000 for the cause.
Dancers, who have been collecting donations prior to the event, will enjoy music, dancing and various games and competitions throughout the night. Special guests, including Miracle Children who have been treated at either Shands Jacksonville or Wolfson Children's Hospital, will also share their inspirational stories throughout the evening to motivate participants.
Children’s Miracle Network is dedicated to improving the health and welfare of all children by raising funds and awareness for the pediatric programs at Shands Jacksonville and Wolfson Children’s Hospital. The founding principle of Children’s Miracle Network is that the funds raised stay in the community to improve the healthcare for local children.
