Dr. Li Loriz, director of the School of Nursing at the University of North Florida, has been named a 2010 Health Care Hero by the Jacksonville Business Journal. The local heroes will be honored for their contributions to improving health care and saving lives in Northeast Florida Thursday, Nov. 4, at the Jacksonville Marriott.

Loriz, a Neptune Beach resident, is among 25 Health Care Heroes being recognized and among three individuals in the “Nurse” category that will be honored. The selections were based on nomination information submitted by Business Journal readers and more than 100 nominations were received this year. The winners will be featured in a special section of the Journal’s Nov. 5 newspaper.

“Li is an outstanding Director of the School of Nursing,” said Dr. Pam Chally, dean of the Brooks College of Health at UNF. “I have great respect and admiration for her leadership and professional accomplishments.”
