“9/11: An Elegy” exhibition
is currently on display at the
University of North Florida Lufrano Intercultural Gallery and runs through Friday, Oct. 8. The gallery exhibition, which is free and open to the public, is located on campus in the Student Union, Building 58 East, Suite 2401. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday.
For the artist, Dr. Paul Ladnier, a UNF associate professor emeritus of painting and drawing, painting the aftermath of Sept. 11, 2001, as it was unraveling, was a cathartic experience. When the world felt threatened, exposed and helpless, he painted. What resulted was “9/11: An Elegy,” a series of works that express a mournful tone in response to this horrific event.
I want people to remember 9/11. To remember what we all felt that day,” said Ladnier, a Southside resident. “It should never be shoved under a rug and forgotten. Our world changed that day. I changed. “
There is a $3 fee for parking on campus. For more information, contact Chris Bender, at (904) 620-2475.
