The University of North Florida’s Preston Hale was named to the 2010 Atlantic Sun Conference All-Tournament baseball team. Hale was one of 11 players named to the team.
Hale finished the tournament with a .462 batting average, going 6-for-13 with three home runs. The senior boasted a 1.154 slugging percentage. Hale scored six runs while driving in five RBI. He was hit by two pitches to up his on-base percentage for the tournament to .533. Hale was perfect in the field on five chances.
The
First Team All-Atlantic Sun Conference selection recorded his first
multi-homer game of the season, finishing the first game of the
tournament 2-for-4 with two home runs, three runs scored and three RBI. The last player to hit multiple home runs in an Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament game was Campbell’s Brandon Scott on May 22, 2008 in an 11-3 victory for the Camels against Mercer.
Against nationally ranked Florida Gulf Coast,
Hale finished the game 3-for-4 with three runs scored and a home run,
guiding the Ospreys to a 13-2 victory over the No. 28 Eagles. The victory was the worse loss for the Eagles since joining the Atlantic Sun Conference. The win was the 11th victory in UNF history over a ranked opponent and the second this season.
Hale also had a hit and an RBI in the Ospreys final game of the tournament against crosstown rival Jacksonville.
