The University of North Florida Division of Continuing Education and the
Coggin College of Business Flagship Program recently had its second class graduate
from its fast-growing Certification in Transportation and Logistics (CTL) program,
supported by the American Society for Transportation and Logistics.
The class of 14 was comprised of logistics professionals advancing their
careers, individuals expanding their career into the growing logistics field,
and college graduates attaining the certification to add to their resume. The
class had a diverse composition with students from the United States, Ecuador,
Honduras, Turkey, Tobago and Cuba, giving the program an
interesting aspect to the global logistics marketplace.
“The class makeup was quite eclectic,” said Ron Shamlaty, a CTL program instructor.
“The student’s motivation for taking the course and their passion for the
global logistics supply chain challenged me as an instructor.”
The graduates completed the course on March 24 at
UNF and included: Dorothy Arnwine, Patrick Arnwine, Joe Beeler, Paul Boyd, Dorian Carter, Maria Gudenus, Eugene Long, Jay
McCleary, Henrietta McInnis, Manuela Lopez, Oliver Nwokoh, Sidney Sutphin,
Mathias Sutton, and Hurkan Yagci.
Upon completion of five required modules and a creative component,
successful candidates are granted the CTL distinction. The CTL credential
remains valid with active membership in the AST&L.
Robert Wood, dean of Continuing Education
at UNF, presided over the graduation. Special guest speakers included Elaine
Puri, director of the State of Florida’s Employee Banner
Center for Logistics, and keynote
speaker Laurie Denham, executive director of the AST&L from Washington D.C.
