The University of North Florida golf team is ranked in the top 25 nationally in both recently released national golf polls.

The Ospreys sit 24thin the index and 25th in the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings.

The rankings come on the heels of a tournament title at the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational (Feb. 28-March 2) at Sawgrass Country Club and a third-place finish at the USF Invitational on March 5-7 at Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club.

The Ospreys beat 14 other teams at the John Hayt, including Florida, who is ranked fourth by and sixth by Golfweek/Sagarin.  The USF Invite included 25 teams.

Sophomore Sean Dale leads UNF with a No. 24 national ranking in both polls. The Ospreys have three other golfers ranked in the top-212 nationally, followed by sophomore Joe Byun (86, Golfweek/Sagarin; 167,, freshman Kevin Phelan (98, Golfweek/Sagarin; 117, and senior J.C. Horne (201,; 212, Golfweek/Sagarin).

"Early in the year we were in the top 25 which was a good start to the year," said UNF head coach Scott Schroeder. "Now having played two-thirds of our schedule and still being ranked there shows we are pretty good.  The players have earned this with their hard work but we still have a lot of work to do to accomplish all the goals we have for the season."

Oklahoma State tops both team rankings, while Georgia’s
Russell Henley tops the individual rankings and Florida State’s Brooks Koepka the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings.
